Never Air Dirty Laundry in the Office

Image: Wisp of Silk Bralette- Anthropologie

I listen to this more often than not, and the purpatrator's door is always open. Tough times happen to all of us, but a DC Lady never allows personal matters at home to affect her work and professionalism.  Be careful not to share too many details, or any for that matter, about troubles in your personal life. It can be uncomfrotable for your co-worker, superior, or staff.

I'm experiencing it now and have politely begun to close my ears and not listen too intently at the message being delivered or shouted through the cooridor.

MUM is a good word and rule in the workplace.

little monsters

hopelessly waiting for these to go on sale. us ladies do enjoy sales.  the reason for the price tag? hand embroidered art. from the background, to the individual letters, to the furry little armpits. however these would be stunning in a study or entry way.  love anthropologie and all of their little monsters.

more than welcome anthropologie

enough said... heart.

Congratulations Sadie

From PAW NATION - Sadie the Scottish Terrier Wins Best in Show at 134th Westminster Dog Show! Congratulations Miss. Perhaps we'll see an influx of scotti owners in the area and around the nation.

Take Care of Your Paws

As the winter becomes increasingly colder and dryer, our hands seem to suffer the most.  Those annoying cracks and cuts are no good.  Make sure to take care of your hands by moisturizing every day, and several times a day at that.  Especially during flu-seasons when washing your hands is a must is when you need to take extra care.

I highly recommend the following products you can find at Sephora, South Moon Under, Nordstrom, or convenient store (well the last one at least).

Make sure to click the name of the product to be taken to the products website for more info.

Vaseline Deep Moisturizer Creamy. Good for every day use during the day.  Find at any convenient store, pharmacy, or grocery store.

Burts Bees Hand Salve.  Not only does it provide aromatherapy, it not only soothes, but cools your hands (sometimes dry skin can burn).  Precaution: Hand Salve is a little more greasy and you'll need to not touch anything for a few minutes to allow the product to absorb into the skin

bliss Glamour Gloves.  For night time use only. Where them in your sleep and it's like getting a hand treatment in your sleep.  You don't have to wear them every night, but you certainly can.  Your hands will feel silky and soft.

DC Dog of the Week

Not sure if I'm going to do a dog of the week every week.  But this was brought to my attention via another DC Lady. The music makes it... CLICK AND ENJOY

She May be LA, but She's a Lady

Rawk on  Kelly Osbourne.  Ms. Osbourne transformed before our eyes on Dancing with the Stars and at Naomi's fashion show to benefit Haiti.  The rock and roll princess introduced a jaw dropping look.  She looks absolutely fantastic and we praise her for doing it in a healthy way.  Hard work and dedication. Beautiful.  DC Lady applauds you Kelly.

P.S. we love you Gwen, but this shout out has to go to Kelly. Click here for full article.

Loads of Layers to Lace and Sequence!

Winter is all about bundling and layers.  DC get ready for pretty-in-pink spring.  From the latest Lucky Magazine I bring you clothes for now... and the miraculous for spring. WANT NOW, but must wait until the weather is a bit warmer and not as slushy. Could you imagine wrecking a pair of ankle suede booties?

P.S. Mette Linberg is from the Asteroid Galaxy Tour

Snow Shoes

Recommended... remember my post about SOREL winter boots via Jcrew?  Well looks like the snow has made another appearance- not to worry it's supposed to be light and only accumulate about 1-3 inches.

Here's the reccomendation. Don't spoil your shoes! I've seen too many women out today wearing nice dress boots or heels (really?!)  Spare your "sole's" and wear a more durable shoe to work and put a nicer pair in your bag.  They make big bags for a reason :)

Cheers!

Stuffed Animals are a NO NO after High School

DC ladies no longer accept stuffed animals after high school graduation.  The City of Angels seems to indulge a little too much on acting immature as long as you can while talking like a baby up until you're about 30- ah hem.... we all know who the culprits are and for the most part they are in the tabloids more often than not.

I know I know, I keep writing about Valentine's day, but there is news to report!  Ladies- a real valentines in DC should consist of flowers, chocolates if you like them, a nice dinner, a private romantic meal, or trip to one of the near-by beaches.  A teddy bear just doesn't cut it anymore and will end up most likely in the
"les garbage" pile.Note to the fellas.

Happy Post Valentines Day

I know Valentines Day was yesterday, but why not share the love all of the time? I recently went into a local SouthMoon Under and they have tons of cute accessories, clothes, and home items that are all about the love-fest many of treasure, and some despise. NEVER HATE ON LOVE.  Is VDay really that bad? I spent it solo this year and had a great evening.  Granted I will be seeing the person I consider to be my valentine later this week.

.... you don't need a valentine on the 14th to validate the status of your love life <3

I have a great picture of the shirt i bought this weekend by Rebel Yell.  Will post later, as I am work.

Cheers!

Say Goodbye to Snow!

Hello fellow ladies!

The snow has finally left- well at least until this evening, but it will only be an inch!  My favorite part of the snow storm was sporting leggings with SOREL snow boots and seeing others do the same.  There's something about these outdoorsie mud slingers that crunch through ice and moosh (yes moosh!).  Uggs are great for the fall when the weather is dry, because lets face it those sheerling shoes don't do much to keep your feet dry.

I have a pair of SOREL myself after seeing them in the winter 2009/2010 JCREW catalogue.  Even a "dirty old snow boot" can look sophisticated and classy.

Carry on ladies, happy Monday!

The First Lady... Well sort of

We do have a first lady in DC- and we all know her as Michelle. As much as I love Michelle Obama-and we'll get to her soon-I'd have to say right now the first lady of DC is Ms. Ali Wentworth. For those who don't know... catch up!

Ali is a Washingtonian, and her hubby GEORGE STEPHANOPOLOUS has just joined the team on Good Morning America. You can also see Ali on some Fridays Live! With Oprah. Yes we love you Ali. You are the epitamy of a DC Lady. Humble, refined, silly, and smart.

It's Official

Girl Lady DC is here. I've been wandering and looking for something that showcases us 20 and 30 year olds who are the up-and-coming of this great metropolis. Sure we may not be the "Real Housewives of DC", but we have something better.... aspiring goals and dreams, booming careers, firmer bodies, and an intellect that will knock your socks off... all while wearing 5 inch heels.

All comments and suggestions are welcome. If you're an "up and coming" in DC- share!
Sincerely Yours,
Lady DC
